I have not been able to determine much of anything about its origins

but I find it exactly right--conveying the quiet beauty and also isolation of winter without a brushstroke more than is needed

with the pitch graduated from highest for the smallest (green) box to deepest for the largest

1950--but none with this fantastic aqua glaze

One certainly comes across these sorts of drawings from time to time, but I think this particular piece quite transcends the context of its making, between the marvelously tender interactions among figures the touch of fingers, hand hold, arm across the back and the terrific
